Patty Fleming

OWNER & PRINCIPLE INSTRUCTOR

Patty Fleming infuses our studio with its incredible energy and focus! She began dancing and training in Saskatchewan at the age of four and by 14 was already teaching at her studio. She was a competitive dancer in her youth along with performing with the “Cathy Mylrea Dancers” and “The Debutante Dancers”. After graduation Patty continued her studies of modern dance at Ricks College (now, Brigham Young University- Idaho) which lead her to complete the Dance West Program at Utah State University.

Personal and professional performances include:

  • Klondike Days
  • Calgary Stampede
  • Numerous televised Tele-Miracles and TV talent finals.
  • She created, choreographed and performed with the “Kindersley Variety Dancers” in Expo 86, in Vancouver BC.

Patty has been teaching jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, modern and musical theater for over 25 years and loves it! Her passion for choreography rivals that love, and has been recognized at numerous festivals and competitions. She was awarded the Overall Choreography Award at SHINE Okanagan 2012 with her daughter Kali, and was awarded Most Innovative Choreography at Vancouver’s Triple Threat Dance Convention 2003. SHINE Okanagan 2014 awarded her the honour of being Dance Teacher of the Year, earning her a trip to the NYC to Dance Teachers Summit! On top of that amazing award, she was also the recipient of the teacher’s scholarship at PULSE Las Vegas 2014 to Broadway Dance Center.

Patty continues to extend her talents deeper into the community. She has choreographed for 20 musicals at the local high schools as well as Shuswap Theater. Credits include: Music Man, Grease, Man of La Mancha, Leader of the Pack, 42nd Street, West Side Story, Mame, Godspell, Oklahoma, Brigadoon, Fiddler on the Roof and many more. Anyone who knows Patty will tell you that she is the driving force behind the growing dance community in the Salmon Arm and Revelstoke areas.

Being a mother of 5 has not stopped her award winning choreography, boundless energy, and up beat approach to teaching. She has made her studio the one dancers want to go to.
